I found this recipe online a couple years ago as well. I love s’mores and miss them dearly in the winter months. I decided to look up different ways I could make them at home and found this interesting idea.
Here is what you’ll need:
1 can of Pillsbury crescent rolls
a little butter
First, you need to grease a cupcake pan or any other sort of oven-safe bowls. Separate your Pillsbury crescent rolls and place one triangle in each little compartment. Fill with chocolate chips, marshmallows, a little bit of butter, and even a pinch of ground up graham cracker if you wish. Then, close the little pockets and try to make sure there aren’t any openings. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until the rolls are golden. Then? Enjoy!
With Easter just around the corner, I thought I would share this awesome egg dying technique I found a couple years ago on the internet – using ties to dye your Easter eggs. I used a blog a long time ago when I did this myself, but cannot remember which it was. So I looked it up now and found THIS blog, which I used for reference.
You need 100% silk ties for this to work. I found most of my ties at local thrift shops for fifty cents a piece. Just make sure to check the label for silk! You can also use any other type of patterned silk.
Usually, darker colors work better than lighter colors.
Step one is to deconstruct to tie to separate the silk from the rest of the tie. Some scissors should do the trick. Next, cut a square or piece large enough to completely cover the egg, with some excess. Wrap the printed side of the tie towards the egg shell. Make sure to wrap the tie as tight as you can around the egg without breaking it. Once it is wrapped, tie with string or twisty tie, or whatever works.
Take note, the opposite side of where you place the tie is the part of the egg that will have the clearest pattern. After this, you need to wrap the eggs in another old piece of fabric. Anything will do, such as an old pillowcase or old t-shirt – something light colored and light weight. Wrap the silk covered eggs in the same fashion with the other piece of fabric.
Put the eggs in a pot and cover them with water. Then, add 1/4 cup of vinegar and bring to a boil. Boil for about 20 minutes and then remove to dry and cool. Once eggs are cool, you can unwrap them!
My results were more water colored looking than anything, but I realized that was because I had a lot of creases. I still loved the look though!
Alright…I found a recipe to please the masses. I used this recipe from Oh Bite It for some snacks to bring so a Superbowl party. I am pleased to say that they were a HUGE hit. I didn’t hear a bad thing about them and people were fighting over the last cookie. Definitely a winner.
Here is what you’ll need:
1 box of frozen pie crust (2 sheets per box)
Approx. 1 can of apple pie filling (just enough for a thin layer)
Approx. 1 cup of caramel sauce (just enough for a light coating)
1 egg for egg-wash
2 tbsp. cinnamon sugar
1 tbsp. nutmeg
Flour for sprinkling
A round cookie cutter – any size will do.
Lay out a sheet of pie crust and sprinkle it with some flour and slightly roll it out, just so that you can get more cookies. Pour some of the caramel sauce onto the crust and evenly spread it around, creating a thin layer of caramel. Coarsely chop the apple pie filling into small pieces.Top the caramel layer with a layer of the chopped up apple pie filling. Try not to add too much or you will just have a huge mess in the end. Roll out the second sheet of pie crust the same size as the first sheet, and slice it into strips. Create a lattice crust (just like on a pie) for the top of the pie filling. It is a lot easier to create the lattice on top of the filling instead of doing it on the side and trying to flip it on to the cookies – I promise, it is easier that way. Dip your cookie cutter into some egg wash and cut out your pie cookies. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and some nutmeg if you prefer. Place them on a baking sheet and bake them at 350 degrees (F) for about 20 minutes, or until the edges are golden and firm. Let them cool some before removing them, but not too long or they will stick to the pan. Then pour some milk or grab some ice cream and enjoy!!
Spring is coming soon! For some it has arrived. Here, in Montana, it isn’t quite here yet but I can see it is trying. I was looking around on Pinterest and saw some lovely ideas for DIY wreaths. I went to the local craft store and found a section specially set aside for wreaths, which made shopping very easy. I started out with these supplies:
An already assembled stick wreath, some wire cutters, some burlap ribbon, floral wire, floral tape, an assortment of fake flowers and a little burlap bird that they had available. It seemed to be plenty more than I needed in the end.
I started by cutting and trimming all of the flowers and leaves, and wrapping them together in little bunches. I then set out an arrangement of where I would place everything. Then I took the floral wire and would wrap it around the stem of the flowers and then stick the stem through the twigs. After it was in the place I wanted, I would wrap the wire around and over and under the flowers and wreath to secure the bunches. I did this with all the different bunches until I had my finished product!
Oh, I also tied the bow and wrapped that on with wire as well. The project was much, much simpler than I had expected. I am very pleased with it, and it currently hangs on my door – hopefully urging Spring to come sooner!
